Medicare

Medicare covers only manual adjustment of the spine

Medicare does not pay for everything that happens at a chiropractic visit. Here we tell you what it pays, what you pay and when we let you know first.

  • We bill Medicare for manual adjustment of the spine

  • We tell you the cost of everything else before we start

  • You decide, with the information in writing

Good to know

  • What Medicare covers

Manual adjustment of the spine, when it is medically necessary. It is the only chiropractic service Medicare covers.

  • What you pay

After the Part B deductible, you pay 20% of the adjustment. A supplement plan, if you have one, may cover that share.

  • What Medicare does not cover

Exams, x-rays, soft tissue therapy and exercises. For those services we tell you the cost before we start.

  • The notice in writing

When a service is not covered, we give you a notice in writing (an ABN) before the visit. You read it, ask questions and decide.

Questions about Medicare

What if I have Medicare Advantage?

Your plan may have other rules. Call the number on your card first and ask about chiropractic care. Ada helps you prepare the questions.

What is an ABN?

It is a notice in writing that we give you before a service Medicare will probably not pay for. It says what the service is and what it costs, so that you can decide.

Do I have to pay anything that day?

Yes, your share. We explain how much it is before we start and give you a receipt.
